Harlan James Smith, 1924-1991

Harlan Smith was my teacher, mentor, and friend. I'm collecting a few items in these pages to honor his memory. At the time of his death, Harlan held the Edward Randall Jr., M.D., Centennial Professorship in Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin. To see a copy of the brochure that U.T. issued when Harlan became the Randall Professor, click here. This brochure contains pictures of Harlan, of Dr. Randall, and of the observatory and some of the people in our department, as well as information about Harlan and his life.

Additional information about Harlan may be found in the brochure that was issued when the Harlan J. Smith Professorship was inaugurated. To see that brochure, click here.
